A Christmas gift that gets your kids painting. Everything they need to paint a first miniature is in one box, with a free orc to paint and a fold-out guide that takes them through it, one step at a time. It is easy to paint alongside them, and the paints and the guide are made for exactly that.

Each paint has one clear job on the orc, so nobody is left guessing what to open next. All you add is water, a paper towel and a little glue, which is a grown-up job. I make every paint myself in Nicosia from a weighed recipe, so a bottle you buy next year behaves like the one in this box.

1. 1Glue. A grown-up glues the orc to his square base, so little hands hold the base and not the paint.
2. 2Undercoat. Cover the whole orc in White and let it dry fully.
3. 3Paint. Big areas first, small parts after. Two thin coats of each colour.
4. 4Wash. Brush the brown Shades wash over everything in a generous coat. It looks like too much while it is wet and settles into the folds as it dries.
5. 5Done. Let it dry, and their first orc is finished.
