Mixing White is, as the name suggests, best for mixing colours as they retain their brightness and maintain the saturation of the colour, creating a subtle change. Made with zinc oxide, a highly transparent pigment with a tenth of the tinting strength of Titanium White. Its weakness is exactly what makes it useful: perfect for subtle lightening, particularly in combination with other transparent colours, for softer effects rather than pastel ones.

Titanium White, our popular opaque white, is made with titanium dioxide and has high opacity and a clean, blue-toned appearance. It is excellent for making tints, but strong enough to dominate a colour if used carelessly. Mixing White is the gentler option: weaker, more transparent, and far harder to overdo.
