Five paints, one clean route from primer to finished mini. Undercoat black, lay down deep armour blue in a single pass, sink the recesses with a matched shade, catch the edges with a bright highlight, then pick out the steel. That is the base-shade-highlight method the whole hobby runs on, pre-selected so the colours work together instead of fighting each other.

Every bottle carries a printed opacity marking, so you know at a glance whether a colour covers in one coat or wants two. The kind of intelligent design the legacy brands still do not bother with. High-pigment, water-based acrylic in dropper bottles. Better paint, better price, no excuses.

1. 1Undercoat. Prime the model black to kill the plastic sheen and give every colour above it depth.
2. 2Base the armour. One pass of single-coat blue for solid, even plates.
3. 3Shade. Pull Indigo ink into the recesses to build instant contrast.
4. 4Highlight. Catch the raised edges with a brighter blue to make the armour read on the table.
5. 5Metal. Pick out weapons and detail in silver, and the trooper is done.
