Everything you need to grow a monster of the swarm from bare plastic to the tabletop, and the brushes to do it with. Twelve matched paints, two warcolours brushes, and not one classic look but two, from a single box.

Two schemes, one palette. In the first, the carapace is a bruised magenta and the flesh beneath is pale as bone. In the second, the pair simply trade places: bone carapace over deep red flesh. The same twelve paints paint either scheme, or a hybrid of your own, because the swarm was never meant to look uniform. The copy on the label shows the swap; the choice is yours.

Every bottle is printed with an opacity marking, so you are never guessing whether a colour covers in one pass or two. The selection is not random. It is built on the warcolours colour wheel, so carapace, flesh and claw belong to the same tonal world and blend the way they should. High-pigment, water-based acrylic in dropper bottles, plus a base-layer brush and a detail brush to put it all down.

1. 1Undercoat. Prime the model black to give the colours above it depth.
2. 2Carapace. Base, ink shade, then a highlight. Magenta for the first look, bone for the second.
3. 3Flesh. Base, shade and highlight the soft skin. Pale flesh for the first look, deep red for the second.
4. 4Claws and teeth. Bone across the talons and fangs, shaded deep and brought up to white.
5. 5Maws and eyes. Pink in the mouths and tongues, bright yellow in the eyes and bio-lights.
